ESET Online Scanner is a free tool, can be used to search for and eliminate malware from computers. It is based on the same ThreatSense scanning technology and signatures that are used by ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus security software. This makes it capable of detecting and removing numerous types of malware, without the need for installation. It also has the ability to scan various areas of the computer, including the autostart location, the boot sector and registry. It also has the ability to resolve issues during the restart of the computer and also re-scan files that were previously deemed infected.
The software is accessible via the internet and can be accessed by anyone who has internet access. Once the program has been installed, the user can select the components they wish to scan for malware. This may take some time because the application needs to download the most current signature databases before it begins scanning. Once the scanning is complete you can review the results and any threats found will be removed. The application doesn’t offer continuous protection, but is able to detect harmful components before they cause harm.
Overall, it is an effective tool for removing malware from a computer. It is especially helpful if it is not protected by other antivirus software. Although it does not provide as much protection as paid solutions but it is ahead of many free online checkers, and provides the ability to scan multiple areas of the computer.
